Itty-Bitty (3/4 year old):Children are introduced to beginner basketball concepts such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Hand eye coordination is developed as children burn energy becoming introduced to the sport of Basketball.PreKindergarten/KindergartenChildren are introduced to various basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Every week, coaches introduce a new skill or build upon the skill. The different type of passing is taught and various thematic, fun and silly games are played for practicing! Children are also introduced to game play, which consist of small sided games. Your children are going to work up a sweat, a great combination of fitness movements (shuffling, back pedaling, and sprint) will be focused on to build conditioning. Grade 1-2The main objective of this program is to provide 1st & 2nd grade girls and boys with an introduction to the sport of basketball. The emphasis of this program is on participation, skill development, selfesteem, confidence building and most of all, HAVING FUN! Providing an opportunity for the kids to have fun is the most important thing you can do as a parent. Registered students will be notified when the workbooks are available for pickup at the Recreation Department. Please make sure you provide an accurate contact e-mail and phone number, as without the completed workbook, you are unable to attend the class.Since this is a full day program, Swanton Recreation will provide bottled water, a healthy morning snack as well as local pizza for lunch. If your child has any food allergies, please add this to the notes section. Your $8 registration fee covers the cost of lunch and snacks- it is not for the cost of the class, as this is free program through the state. **If you are unable to afford the lunch fee, please register and contact us and the fee will be waived. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend with their child. Please contact Liza L. Join the fun and celebrate St.Patrick’s Day the fit & healthy way! Sign up your family and friends and bring your green! We will be looking for the top 2 best dressed Leprechauns or Green Runners, so be creative! All ages and abilities are welcome. Registration begins at 8:15am in the Swanton Central School Parking lot. Please dress according to the weather.
